Joe is the former co-chair of a National CPA firm where he oversaw seven offices for many years and consulted or wrote for Wolters Kluwer (CCH), Carswell, Thomson Reuters, Lexis Nexis and served on the editorial advisory of a trade newspaper with a circulation of over 40,000 professional accountants. Much of that work was prompted by Joe's 1990s presentation "Artificial Intelligence, The Future of Electronic Libraries".
While articling for Price Waterhouse in the early 1980s, Joe developed software used by the firm. At that time most accountants did not even own a computer. Joe has been involved in developing due diligence systems for professionals (including social workers, accountants and others) and their clients ever since. Joe's Clients in this area have included various government audit departments, international and local CPA firms, Chartered Professional Accountants Canada ("CPA Canada"), etc.
Joe's guidelines and/or technology have been used for over 50 Government programs, audit, tax, accounting disclosure, public and private company reporting, not for profit organizations, etc. Some of these products included questionnaires with over 1500 questions with word searches into professional libraries. and draft automated reporting letters.
